The Bedford Bags Story

Every stitch tells a story.

My mother sewed. She made clothes, mostly for special occasions. We had the most amazing costumes for Halloween and various productions. All made by my mother. However - Her sewing machine was OFF LIMITS! But when she wasn't looking, little hands would do what little hands would do.

Fast forward to 1980- The year I got my first real job. I took that first paycheck and went to Sears. I bought a Kenmore 4 stitch sewing machine. My mother taught me how to thread that machine - how to cut out a pattern - how to read a pattern - how to work with fabric - and is responsible for my love of sewing.

Over the years, I have made clothes, mostly for special occasions. And my sons and grandkids have had some amazing costumes.

I have always enjoyed the challenge of creating something with structure. So naturally, I drifted to handbags. Over the last several years, I have honed my skills and continue to do that in my home studio daily. That leads to a quality product.

Each Bedford Bag is made by hand — by me, start to finish. No shortcuts, no assembly lines. From the first cut of fabric to the final stitch, I bring precision and care to every detail. Reinforced seams and carefully selected hardware ensure a bag that's as durable as it is beautiful

Handcrafted with love, Julie
